Frequently asked questions
What is LENE
LENE is a solid cleanser designed to clean makeup brushes and sponges using only four ingredients: grass-fed tallow, organic coconut oil, French green clay, and lye (none remains after curing).
Why should I clean my makeup brushes and sponges?
Over time, makeup, oils, skincare products, and everyday residue build up on your brushes and sponges. Regular cleaning helps keep your tools performing their best and removes buildup that would otherwise be reapplied during makeup application.
How often should I clean my brushes?
For brushes used with liquid or cream products, we recommend cleaning at least once a week. Brushes used around the eyes may benefit from more frequent cleaning. Sponges should also be cleaned regularly.
How do I use LENE?
1. Wet your brush or sponge with warm water.
2. Swirl it directly onto the cleanser.
3. Work into a rich lather.
4. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
5. Reshape brushes and allow them to air dry.
Is it safe for both makeup brushes and beauty sponges?
Yes. LENE is designed for both makeup brushes and cosmetic sponges.
What ingredients are in LENE?
Only four:
- Grass-Fed Tallow
- Organic Coconut Oil
- French Green Clay
- Lye (none remains after curing)
Nothing more.
Why is lye listed as an ingredient?
Lye is an essential part of traditional soap making. During the soap-making process (called saponification), it reacts with the oils to create soap. None remains in the finished bar after curing.
Does LENE contain fragrance?
No.
LENE contains no added fragrance, essential oils, perfumes, or synthetic scents.
Does it contain preservatives?
No.
Because LENE is a water-free solid cleanser, preservatives are not needed.
How long does one tin last?
Because LENE is a concentrated solid cleanser, one tin can last for many cleanings. Longevity depends on how often you clean your tools and how many brushes or sponges you wash at one time.
CAN LENE BE USED ON POWDER PUFFS?
Yes, LENE can be used to clean many reusable powder puffs. As with any cosmetic tool, we recommend following the manufacturer's care instructions and allowing the puff to dry completely before reuse.
WHERE IS LENE MADE?
LENE is made in CHICAGO. We are a family that produces every product in house.
